Veteran Family Program

Veterans' Family Services

Veteran Family Program

The Veteran Family Program (VFP) is designed specifically for medically releasing or medically released CAF members, veterans and their families. It is also available to provide support for all other types of release.

The VFP supports medically released veterans and their families by helping them navigate the complex release process and cope with the challenges that can arise. The programs and services offered are designed to meet individual needs with tailored solutions and support for sometimes unforeseen social, emotional and financial impacts. The VFP can enhance other services provided by the Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group, Veterans Affairs Canada and other organizations in the local community.

Here are some examples of services provided:

  • Individual consultations for veterans, their spouses, couples or families to address psychosocial issues
  • Information and referrals to appropriate resources to address current or future needs (partnership with the Transition Centre)
  • Access to various workshops and training courses
  • Needs assessment
  • Referral to and support with civilian and military resources

Through the VFP, veterans’ families have access to the full range of services offered by the Military Family Resource Centre.
